Call for Applications: Editor-in-Chief of Enterprise and Society
The journal of the Business History Conference seeks applications for EiC
The Business History Conference and Cambridge University Press invite applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of Enterprise and Society: The International Journal of Business History.
Enterprise and Society is a leading peer-reviewed journal in business history, publishing four times a year with a global and interdisciplinary scope. It serves as a key forum for research exploring the historical relationships between businesses and their broader political, cultural, institutional, social, and economic contexts. The journal is ranked among the top fifteen history journals in the Google h-5 index.
Role and Responsibilities
The Editor-in-Chief will:
• Shape and direct the journal’s intellectual and editorial vision, overseeing submissions, peer review, and publication decisions.
• Review and refine editorial policies in collaboration with the Editorial Board and the Print Media Oversight Committee (PMOC) of the BHC.
• Lead the journal through shifts in academic publishing, including Open Access transitions, AI’s impact on scholarly communication, and digitalization efforts.
• Work closely with the Managing Editor, Carol Lockman, and coordinate with Cambridge University Press and BHC leadership on strategic developments.
Appointment and Compensation
The EiC serves a four-year renewable term, appointed by the BHC Trustees upon the recommendation of the PMOC. The role includes an annual stipend of $5,000, which may be taken as either travel reimbursement or direct compensation.
